1) 📉 No More Natural Gas?:
Europe is experiencing a major decline in natural-gas usage. The prices have significantly reduced from last year, yet still, demand is not increasing. This trend may become permanent, heat pumps are one major technology to thank for reduced natural gas need. Learn more here
2) ⚖️ Mandated Rooftop Solar:
Tokyo, Japan has mandated that all new single family homes have rooftop solar installed. The hope is the solar will reduce grid stress caused by heat waves, but most of this solar will have to come from China. Learn more here
3) ❌ Murky Solar Supply Chain:
The vast majority of solar panels made globally have significant exposure to China and its Xinjiang region, a region where the United Nations and US government accuse China of committing human rights violations. There have been bans on products from this area, but, Xinjiang is a key provider of polysilicon, a needed material in solar panel production. Learn more here
