1) 😭 Britain and its Climate Crown:
Britain may have lost its climate crown, from setting ambitious goals in 2019 to struggling to act on net-zero plans today, other countries surge ahead Britain in climate progress. This decline comes from the government's move last week to delay targets on green vehicles and heating systems. Learn more here
2) 😅 Surviving the Heat:
How did the US grid survive the heat waves this summer? Batteries. This new technology is seeing increased amount of investments as we realize the immense benefit of having large-scale batteries to support our grid. Learn more here
3) 🤝 Water-for-energy:
This tripartite agreement between Jordan, UAE and Jordan, is set to be reached at COP28. This agreement proposes that Jordan will supply solar energy from a UAE-funded plant to Israel. Israel, in return, will provide Jordan with desalinated water. Learn more here
🚨 ELP Applications close tomorrow!!
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is an 8-week-long program designed to give students a close look at the opportunities within the energy industry. In each hour-long session, members will either engage with an energy leader or network with their fellow cohort members. The Energy Terminal team will select a cohort of 10-15 students so that the cohort has the opportunity to make deeper connections with each other and the industry leaders.
This fall, guest speakers will come from NextEraEnergy, Mckinsey & Co, Ecliptic Capital, bp, and Dayaway Careers. Each guest targets a different energy vertical: Finance & Business, Policy, and Engineering. Apply today!
Applications are open until September 29. The program will run on Mondays at 8 PM beginning on October 2nd.
